This meme has been making the rounds. It wins the "Stupidest Fucking Thing On The Internet" for Febraury 2016. The nuttiness that will surely follow the passing of Justice Scalia, and the DC shitstorm to come regarding his replacement not withstanding. There will certainly be some crazy stupid shit to come.
"Socialism" is out of the Marxian idea of workers control of means of production. Not to be confused with the state control in "Communism."
The Nazi Party destroyed the political apparatus of the working class, broke the trade union movement, and handed the economy over to German capitalist economies. "Socialism" in the mind of the NSDAP involved either the SA's street fighting fantasy of a German nation recast in the image of the right wing worker; or the NSDAP's central apparatus' conception of a pliant breeding nation. "Socialism" was for the NSDAP the forced mobilization of the ethnic nation.
Many Germans at the time, especially right wing Germans, associated these values with a Bismarkian right wing policy that had been called "Socialism," in the sense of state provided goods and services. NSDAP named itself "National Socialist" to take advantage of this feeling. Make no mistake, the NSDAP did not hope for the abolition of capitalism, nor did it work towards workers control.
In addition to this economic position, the NSDAP wished to reunify the imaginary German nation by force; impose a German order on Europe through war, and to eliminate the imaginary racial "other." The combination of these policies, and other implemented by the NSDAP are considered "right wing." Definitively, the Nazis were not "socialist." They were "facsist." Please learn the difference.
If your political analysis doesn't go deeper than a label, you might want to rethink that. The reason you should rethink that is because it's plainly stupid. East Germany was labeled the "German Democratic Republic." It was German, but that's where the honesty in the label ends. What's in a name? Nothing.
